When I saw this title I thought it can’t just be DC characters fighting, and some inevitably becoming, vampires can it - there has to be more to this than that, otherwise why do it? Delving deeper into the psyche and personalities of the surviving superheroes, with most of the A-list heroes fallen one way or another, this volume explores the desperation in the midst of horrifying evil, pushing each and every last one of the world’s remaining saviours to do what they can to take back the world they once loved. Due to this, the creators can do things you wouldn’t be able to do normally – such as turn heroes into vampires. Some may find Deathstroke randomly becoming a disciple of Batman interesting, but it is out of character. It is quite possibly on the level of Samurai Jack level of visual storytelling through action, and I'm loving it.

The leaders of the last surviving resistance force-Green Arrow, Batgirl, and Supergirl-hatch a desperate plan to save the world. Matthew Rosenberg (with a story assist by James Tynion IV) manages to make the story believable even while never forgetting it's about superheroes and vampires, so it should be inherently dumb too. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a vampire fetish or NEED to see the DC Universe interacting with vampires.While I’m incredibly biased on Schmidt, I don’t believe any of the shortcomings affect the ability to enjoy the book overall. Tynion soon began writing Talon , a series that spun out of the hugely popular "Batman: The Court of Owls" story line. He also conducts industry interviews, is a Rotten Tomatoes certified film critic, and knows a LOT about the X-Men.

The following issues confirm that Black Manta died during the first days of the conquest, and it's in fact Mera under the armor. Everything she did once she got in was on purpose, and you know she's not evil, so she obviously planned for herself to be turned. After Killers, Harley is freed by Batgirl in the main series in hopes of executing her complex strategy.With strong artwork heavily focused on expression and emotion, this still has a lot of potential to remain a strong stand-alone series as long as they don’t allow the series to overstay its welcome. Rosenberg and Tynion have done a poor job justifying focusing on these characters if they weren’t leading anywhere. Vampires depicts the epic fight placing the heroes of the DC Universe against the undead for the very survival of the human race! Despite the silver lining of accomplishing her goal, the cycle will doubtlessly continue like Andrew Bennett and Mary in I, Vampire.
